Update from the Bluff Town Council Mayor

Yes, it is true! Bluff became Utah’s most recently incorporated town at 12:01 a.m. on August 31, 2018. The town council was administered their Oaths of Office by Menvalia (Val) Redhorse, Notary Public for the San Juan Credit Union, on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Many thanks to Jackie Warren, Lois Young, Linda Sosa, and Wes and Carol Shook for providing the celebratory food and beverage. And thanks to all who attended this historic event.

At approximately 2:35 p.m. the town council began making Bluff history with its first “getting down to business” meeting. Our first meeting went a bit longer than our agreed to hour and a half but we knew that it would as we had several legally mandated pieces of business to discuss and vote on such as:

  1. An ordinance as to date, time, and place of the town council regularly scheduled meetings which by an unanimous vote will be every Tuesday beginning September 18 at 6 p.m. at the Bluff Community Center, 190 North 3rd East, Bluff through the end of 2018.
  2. Rules and Procedures needed to guide the town council through its governance of Bluff.
  3. A Code of Conduct that sets the tone of civility and exchange of ideas for the town council meetings.

This website will be used to post the agendas for our public work sessions (which are scheduled as needed with 24 hours notice) and regularly scheduled meetings on Tuesdays as well as posting of the minutes. All sessions are recorded and both the minutes and audio recordings are available to the public in the Bluff Town Council Office, Room 1, of the Bluff Community Center. A request for access to these can be informally made to any one of the Council Members. The agendas and audio recordings are also available at the Utah Public Notice Website.

If you know of someone who is interested in being added to this website, direct them to townofbluff.org as there is a sign up section. There is also contact information for each of the individual town council members.

Thank you again to everyone who has worked to make Bluff a town and continue to give us your input, suggestions, and criticisms.
